Effect of He–Ne Laser Blood Irradiation on Psoriasis Area and Severity Index (PASI), Total Cholesterol (TC) and Triglyceride (TG) in Patients with Psoriasis Vulgaris
Abstract
Objectives: The aim of this study was to assess the effect of He–Ne laser blood irradiation (LBI) on psoriasis area and severity index (PASI), total cholesterol (TC) and triglyceride (TG) in patients with psoriasis vulgaris (PV). Patients and Methods: A total of 90 cases of PV were divided into three groups according to the paths of laser irradiation—Intravenous laser blood irradiation (ILBI: A Group), nasal mucous irradiation (B Group) and no irradiation (C Group). All the patients were treated by placebo with sodium bicarbonate (100 mg/d) for eight weeks while they were irradiated. Result: In patients with PV, TC and TG were increased relatively. In all the groups, PASI, TC and TG were decreased. Significant decreases were observed in A and B Group. The PASI is related with TC and TG in the serum. Conclusion: The He–Ne LBI has therapeutic effect on PV via regulating TC and TG in the serum.
