Taking this into consideration, the review article outlines some new insight on identification of CKD, classifying it into several stages based on glomerular filtration rate (GFR)/chronic renal failure (CRF) value to be calculated using certain techniques, probable pathophysiology and etiology of CKD along with the therapeutic treatment available to reduce its progression. It also states the effect of CKD towards development of symptomatic anaemia and the best possible preventive measures to treat it. It summons the need of hour for understanding CKD and its effects.
