Seema A., Isac Sobana Raj C.

Abstract

Synthesis and analysis of cardanol consisted Schiff base ligand along with its complexes such as Cu, Co and Ni are considered as a novel tetradentate cardanol contained Schiff base ligand molecules for various biological effects. It is prepared by the condensation reaction of 2-aminophenol and di-α formylmethoxybis (3-pentadecenyl phenyl) methane which is termed as DFMPM in the molar ratio of 2:1. The characterization of the experimental compounds is done with IR, 1H NMR, 13C NMR and HRMS along with the screening for in-vitro antibacterial and antifungal activity against clinical pathogenic bacterial organisms by well diffusion technique. More over anti-oxidant activity have also been analyzed, copper complexes performed better activity. Apart from the present result shows that the copper complexes performed better antimicrobial activity also than the other two complexes. Hence, the current research has clearly expressed that the ligand molecule acts as a bactericidal agent of those experimental pathogenic bacterial organism.
