Comprehension and Prevention of Lifestyle Disorders in Unani Perspective

Abstract


The prevalence of lifestyle disorders (LSDs) and their complications are rising. Overall health and wealth burden to society and country is much considerable. Lack of satisfactory preventive measures and effective treatment modalities have made them of grave concern. Because of these factors, LSDs are posing a challenge for medical, including AYUSH fraternity. Government of every country is promoting the concern people to present most cost-effective remedial measures. Except obesity, LSDs are not described in AYUSH systems elaborately. For comprehension, first these diseases need pathological explanation in conceptual and theoretical framework of the system. Only then preventive as well as therapeutic modalities can be proposed and adopted with acceptable logical and scientific background. In the present study, genesis of LSDs is explained in context of Unani system. This study will help the researchers in comprehension of LSDs and motivate them for conducting researches towards their remedial measures in right perspectives.
