Cardiac Diseases and Its Causes in Unani Perspective

Abstract


Cardiovascular diseases are leading cause of death and disability in the world. They have emerged as a threat to both developed and developing countries. Unani system of medicine is one of the old systems of medicine in the world. This system of medicine originates from Greece and reaches to Arabs and later flourishes in India. The ancient classical unani literature has mentioned various causes of cardiac disease in terms of its temperament and other factors. The basic concept of cardiac diseases is presented in a collaborative effort of both unani and conventional medicine. This paper will attempt to discuss the various causes of cardiac diseases as mentioned in unani literature.
