Abstract

Needlestick injuries and sharp injuries are one of the major risk factors ofblood and body fluid infections in health care facilities.Nurses,health care worker,andnursing students are always at risk of getting needlestick injuries. Job-related stress, recapping of used needles, lack of required skill, not following universal precautions are the factors associated with most of the needlestick injuries.Needlestick injuries can be reducedif health care workers,nurseswill avoid recapping of used needles and apply universal precautions during procedure and safe disposal of used needles,immunization against hepatitis B virus (HBV).
