A Comparative Study of Pachak Pitta and Jathragni

Abstract

Welcome to the world of Ayurveda, in present era, everybody is looking towards Ayurveda for health care. Besides the medicine, we are having one special principle which other disease are not having, i.e., Swasthasya Swasthya Rakshanam. Swasthya is a state when an individual in a state of equilibrium of three dosas, normal functioning of the thirteen agnis (digestion and metabolism), the dhatus and malas and he is in the state of sensorial, mental, emotional and spiritual wellbeing, finally a clear and bright state of mind, body and soul. Dosas, dhatus, malas, srotus and agni etc. are basic fundamental of our classical science. In Ayurveda, pitta is representative of agni in body. As in outer word, fire transform the substances to different specific forms, likewise pitta changes food taken and rasadhatu into some nutritious terms, by using which rest of dhatus get nutrition. Function of pitta in the body is as same as of agni. Therefore, in this article a comparative study of Pachak pitta with Jathragni are explained.
