Gout is both an inflammatory and a metabolic disease. The association between gout and type 2 diabetes, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, cardiovascular disease, renal disease, and obesity suggest that either gout, or its necessary precursor hyperuricemia, may play an important role in the manifestations of the metabolic syndrome. The need of my study is to find out whether the short-term therapy of the of Shirodhara along with Ashwagandha churna and Brahmari pranayam can prove to be effective without any side effects, then the other prescribed treatments for stress level in gout. Shirodhara is a classical and a well-established ayurvedic procedure of slowly and steadily dripping medicated oil or other liquids on the forehead. This procedure induces a relaxed state of awareness that results in a dynamic psycho-somatic balance used by vaidhya for various indications which includes psychological, neurological, metabolic and autoimmune diseases. A clinical study of Shirodhara along with Ashwagandha churna and Brahmari pranayam was conducted on 10 patients at Ayush Ayurveda Centre, Delhi. Assessment based on stress level of gout patients was done before and after treatment. The results were statistically analyzed. After the intervention, stress level was significantly reduced. The study revealed that Shirodhara along with Ashwagandha churna and Brahmari pranayam was proved to be beneficial for the stress level of patients of gout.
