Concept of Asthyagni w.s.r. to Osteoporosis
Keywords:
Asthyagni, osteoporosis, Asthidhatu, Ushma, PittavisheshaAbstract
Asthidhatu is the fifth dhatu which does the function of Shareeradharana. It is formed by the saarabhaaga of the medadhatu and by the action of upachayakaraka asthidhatwagni on the asthiposhakansha present in the aahara rasa. Though there is not even the mention of the name Asthyagni in the classical texts of Ayurveda. But on the basis of the available knowledge about dhatwagni we can formulate ‘Asthyagni’ as “Ushma (sum total of bhutagnis contained in the asthi cells) + Pittavishesha" necessary for asthi metabolism.
The present study entitled “Concept of Asthyagni w.s.r. to Osteoporosis” comprises of an introductory part followed by review of the literature, aims & and objectives, materials and methods, observation, discussion and conclusion.
