Abstract

Biosurfactants are microbial metabolites bearing typical amphiphilic structure of a surfactant. This study is aimed at isolation and characterization of Rhamnolipid (RL) biosurfactant from Pseudomonas aeruginosa MTCC 2488. Characterization of biosurfactant was assessed by oil displacement test, foaming test, thin layer chromatography (TLC) and antimicrobial activity for the same was evaluated against planktonic/sessile microbes including Staphylococcus aureus, Bacillus subtilis and Candida albicans.
