Abstract

Metastasis is defined by the spread of a tumour to sites that are physically discontinuous with the primary tumour, and unequivocally marks a tumour as malignant. One of the illnesses that poses the greatest risk to human life is cancer. Patients with cancer may experience metastasis years or even decades, after the main tumour was diagnosed, making the metastatic process considerably more complicated and the disease more lethal. Cancer from other body locations may spread to the mouth cavity. There are many tumours which metastasize to oral cavity; among them, most common are lung, breast, kidney and bone malignancies. The oral soft tissues were less frequently impacted than the jawbones, especially the mandible. Because the oral cavity is not a preferred target, metastatic lesions are uncommon in this site. Thus, the prognosis of cancer and life expectancy are significantly influenced by metastasis.
